Puri

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Serves: 2-3


Ingredients

2 Cups Wheat Flour

½ tsp Turmeric Powder

½ tsp Red Chilli Powder

½ tsp Coriander Cumin Powder (Dhana Jiru)

½ tsp Black Pepper

½ tsp Salt

2½ tbsp Oil


Method

  • Add the flour, turmeric, red chilli powder, dhana jeera, black pepper, salt, and oil to a large mixing bowl. Mix well until the oil is combined with the flour.

  • Slowly pour in lukewarm water and knead into a firm and tight dough.

  • If you find the dough dry, add more water and let it rest for ten minutes.

  • Divide the dough into small balls about 2½ cm, shape them into round balls, and press them with your palm.

  • Roll out the dough into 7-8 cm and 1½mm thin circles.

  • Meanwhile, heat the Ghee-oil in a deep frying pan.

  • Once hot, add the puris and fry by pressing down gently to allow it to puff up.

  • Once puffed, turn over and fry until the puri turns a light golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper.

  • Serve hot with tea and athanu or curry!
