Ingredients:
500 grams Garmar (A Tuberous Root Plant)
2½ tbsp Mustard Seed Powder (Rai Powder)
125ml Lemon Juice
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
⅛ tsp Red Chilli Powder
1 tbsp Salt + ½ tsp
2½ tsp Oil
Method:
Peel and wash the garmar, cut them into small slices about ¼ inch thick, keeping them in half a teaspoon of salted water.
In a saucepan, add the lemon juice, turmeric and salt; sieve and mix the garmar and keep it for two days, stirring 2-3 times a day.
Sieve the garmar and keep the lemon juice aside.
Mix the mustard powder, chilli powder, and oil in a bowl with 4 tbsp of the lemon juice, mix well and combine with the garmar until it has coated the garmar.
Leave it out for one day, then transfer it to the glass jar and refrigerate. It will last up to six months.
